What days of the week and times do you have ceremonies?
Ceremonies can take place Tuesday to Sunday from 10:30am. If you wish to have your ceremony in the Main Hall or Gallery II, you and your wedding party will have the exclusive use of the entire historic house and garden.
How long does the ceremony last and how long will we be at the Russell-Cotes?
A ceremony is usually performed within 40 minutes depending on your requirements. The hire of the Drawing Room is for two hours. After this you can choose to have a drinks reception, wedding breakfast or afternoon tea in the Morning Room. Weddings performed in Gallery II or the Main Hall will give you exclusive use of the Russell-Cotes for that day. We can also accommodate evening receptions for up to 120 guests.
How many people can be accommodated for a ceremony and reception?
It depends on which licensed room within the house that you choose to get married in. Gallery II has the largest capacity with up to 80 guests, followed by the Main Hall with up to 50 guests. For smaller, more intimate ceremonies the Drawing Room can accommodate up to 25 guests. Up to 120 guests can be accommodated for a wedding reception, either in the Cafe Gallery or Gallery II.
Is there parking on site?
There is no parking available for guests, however a space can be arranged for the bridal car near the venue. There is parking close to the Russell-Cotes with the nearest car park being Bath Road South and there is also parking available on East Overcliff Drive.
Where can we have our photos taken?
Couples can choose any of the rooms and locations within the historic house, along with the garden and veranda (weather permitting) for photography. However, this must be agreed upon with the Russell-Cotes prior to your wedding day.
Is the historic house accessible?
The galleries and most of the historic house have lift access, with the exception of the Balcony. None of the licensed rooms are on this floor.
Who conducts the ceremony?
Your ceremony will be conducted by the Bournemouth Registrars. You will need to contact them directly to arrange this. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information. Unfortunately the Russell-Cotes team cannot do this for you as you will have to provide personal and legal documentation.
Are we able to have music and dancing?
Due to the nature of the Grade II* Listed Building a party with dancing would be accommodated in the contemporary Café Gallery.
Who will provide our catering and drinks?
Your wedding will be catered for by the Russell Cotes catering team or one of our alternative catering partners.
Can we have flowers?
Yes – personal bouquets and buttonholes provided by most professional florists are acceptable, as they will have been professionally treated to protect the artefacts in the historic house.
Can we have confetti?
Unfortunately we do not allow any variety of confetti to be thrown within the house or grounds.
